Handbag Care Instructions for KTMO Designs Scarves
KTMO Designs scarves are made from various special fabrics and each fabric may have it's own
cleaning instructions. Any scarf with black or metallic (i.e. gold, brass, silver) line drawings should be ironed
with a cotton fabric (like an old t-shirt) between the scarf and the iron, to protect the lines from being burnt off.
Silk Habotai - 100% Habotai silk is hand washable in cold water with a mild detergent. Add fabric softener to
rinse and iron on silk setting. Dry cleaning is also an option.
Silk Charmeuse - As a general rule, 100% silk charmeuse can be hand washed with cold water and gentle soaps. It
should be laid out flat or hung to dry, although clotheslined charmeuse should not be attached with clothespins,
since they will leave marks. Charmeuse should also not be twisted or contorted while it is wet, because it may set
permanent wrinkles in the fabric. If charmeuse does not include care directions, some consumers prefer to dry clean
it, since dry cleaning is unlikely to shrink, warp, or discolor the garment.
Silk Crepe de Chine - Dry cleaning is the recommended method of care for this fabric. Alternate cleaning option -
machine wash: gentle cycle, warm water, mild soap. Tumble dry on low heat. For smoothest finish, iron from barely
damp state on "wrong" side of fabric.
Bamboo - We recommend mashine washing on cold, gentle cycle with like colors, mild detergent, no bleach, tumble
dry low. TIP: to speed drying time, add some non bamboo items (such as a cotton towel) to the dryer, as this helps
draw the moisture out of bamboo faster. Bamboo fabric may be ironed with low heat. Caution: keep your iron setting
no higher than 'synthetic'. Bamboo cannot handle the same degree of heat as a cotton garment. Also, do not steam iron,
as spitting may occur and noticeable rings will appear until the fabric is again washed.
Soy Fabric - We recommend machine wash cold, only non-chlorine bleach when needed. Tumble dry low. Soy fabric may
be ironed with very low heat. Caution: keep your iron setting no higher than 'synthetic'. Soy fabric cannot handle
the same degree of heat as a cotton garment. Also, do not steam iron, as spitting may occur and noticeable rings will
appear until the fabric is again washed. Wash dark colors separately.
Handbag Care Instructions for KTMO Designs Bags
KTMO Designs handbags are made from various special fabrics and each fabric may have it's own
cleaning instructions. In general, it is advisable to dry clean only.
Leather - We recommend you use professional leather cleaning products. Use a good quality water
based foam leather cleaner and a leather protector. DO NOT use anything containing oils, waxes or
silicones. You should follow this with a good water based leather protector which will act like a
'scotchgard' and inhibit dirt and stains from being absorbed and make cleaning easier the next time.
Suede - We recommend you use a professional cleaner for best results. While we do not guarantee the
results, you can also try to rub the suede with a clean, dry towel. Do not rub too hard but rigorously
enough to ensure that any surface marks come out.
Wax Coated Canvas - Our recommendation is to brush off any visible dust/dirt before hand washing with warm
water and a mild soap (no heavy duty detergents). Air dry only, and don't dry-clean.
Oil Coated Canvas - We recommend hand drying away from flame or artificial heat. Remove light soiling with soft brush
and sponge with cold water. Hose rinse heavy soiling with cold water. Do not use hot water, soap detergent, bleach,
starch or any cleaning agents. Do not wring, spin, or tumble dry. Do not iron or dry clean. do not stitch anything to
exterior without re-sealing stitches. Reproof bag when necessary with an oilcloth reproofer kit.
Tapestry - We recommend you spot or dry clean only.
Silk - We recommend you dry clean only.
Any Other Unusual Fabrics - We recommend you dry clean only.
